10th May 2021 – “Introduction to Press Photography” – Cliff Hide

 

Cliff gave a fascinating and entertaining talk about his career in press photography – a field in which the images used can be so different from the sort we produce for competitions!

We always enjoy a professional talking about their career and this talk was no exception. Even though we are unlikely to do this kind of photography it is good to understand a little better what’s involved for the professionals in their field.

It was interesting to hear about the ethics of when to use an image and when not, and that, for manipulating images, photographers are sacked and have their whole press archive deleted.

Finally he told us that he has found that using Capture One is far better than Lightroom for his photography – perhaps we need to explore this comment!
