9th September 2024 | Impact and Mood
This talk focuses on how to create an image that really has the ‘wow’ factor. An image with impact and mood. I will show a series of before-and-after pictures with the after picture being a big improvement over the before picture. I find this really emphasises the importance of thinking about what you want to achieve before you hit the shutter release. I will then move on to talk about the thought process behind creating a great picture and the various techniques to help achieve that aim.

25th November 2024 | Travels in Japan
Ric spent a year working in Tokyo and exploring Japan. The seasonal variation is highlighted by the famous cherry blossom in the Spring, the hot humid summers (and typhoon season), incredible autumn colours and the snow-covered winter wonderland of Hokkaido. Japan offers a huge diversity of experiences, with beautiful landscapes and wildlife, incredible cultural heritage and magnificent traditional and modern architecture amongst the hustle and bustle of the busy cities. I was very fortunate to be able to plan my trips to visit most of the regions of Japan and experience the different seasons along the way. I look forward to sharing some of the highlights with you. |

A discussion on printer profiling is followed by some of our recent work. |

13th January 2025 | Waterscapes
Jonathan is a professional photographer with a specialism in waterscapes and fortunate enough to grow up on the west coast of France between the sandy waters of the Gironde estuary and the wild Atlantic Ocean. From an early age, he spent my time immersed in water, from days spent surfing learning the intimate secrets of the ocean’s waves, to time spent discovering the rich flora and fauna of the wetlands where his grandparents tended their oyster pools. For the past 3 years, Jonathan has been working on a project photographing the waterscapes of the UK, from the intimate Scottish lochs to the cliff tops of Cornwall and Wales, as well as photographing waterscapes of his home region back in France. 31st March 2025 | Connecting with the World Around Us & The Art of Noticing
In this presentation, Emily will share how photography allows her to slow down, immerse herself in the present moment, and truly connect with the world around her through being in her creative flow. From the grand beauty of big landscapes to the intimate details within it, she will explore how each image tells a story, capturing both the big and small moments that often go unnoticed in our busy lives. Through personal moments and visual examples, Emily will illustrate how photography serves as a tool for mindfulness, helping to deepen our appreciation of the natural world and the people within it and how through an open-minded approach, there is always time for learning and experimenting in photography helping you find your own creativity and share your unique way of seeing the world. Please note this meeting is held on Zoom at the OLC |
