External Competitions – Annual Report 2019-2020 Season

From September 2019 to middle March 2020 the Club took part in all the competitions that we had entered in previous years.

The  External Selection Group consisting of Daan (ECS), Alan, Caroline, Steve Buesden and Paul Hendley met in July 2019 to select 62 images from a pool of 821 internal Print and PDI competition entries, entries to the Annual Exhibition and from the work of the Monoists SIG. The entries for the various competitions were then selected from these 62 images.

Unfortunately, as from 23rd March 2020 when the COVID-19 lockdown was announced, all external competitions seized to take place, as per the guidance we received from the SCPF committee.

We can report the following results of external competitions:

• SCPF Annual Exhibition: Highly Commended in the Woolston Shield Print Competition for best club entry.
• SCPF Print League 2: BCC came 5th this year and will stay in the 2nd PRINT Division. Gosport and Newbury will move up to Print Division 1.
• SCPF PDI League 2: BCC came 4th this year and will stay in the 2nd PDI Division. Wareham and Basingstoke will move up to Print Division 1.
• PAGB Great British Cup (Open): We entered 16 images into this competition and one of our entries, “Perseverance” of Daan Olivier, was accepted for showing.
• Albany Cup Competition, run by Guildford Photographic Society: The Club entry, a 4 print panel entitled “Penny for your thoughts”, won the Albany Cup on 17 Feb 2020.
• Bracknell Nines (Joe Hanson Memorial Trophy): 8 clubs took part and a successful competition was held on 2nd March 2020.li>

Unfortunately, the following competitions were cancelled due to the lockdown.

• SCPF Inter-Club Championships
• The WCCC PDI Challenge for Non-Advance Photographers, run by Windlesham and Camberley Camera Club.
• Yateley 8x8x8
• SCPF Leagues Finals Day 2020
