Meeting Notes

4th January 2021 – “Themes and journeys” – Stephen Dean LRPS APAGB

Stephen took us on a fascinating journey through landscapes and urban spaces with an inspiring talk. It was interesting to see so many monochrome landscape images and some depicting the old saying ‘it’s grim up North’!

He makes good use of light, waiting for that shaft of light, such as the image of the long view of Manchester, that several of us commented upon. He previsualises what he wants to create whereas many of us take images and find a purpose for them later.

His themes on rain and lichen macros are possible to do close to home. It’s a good lesson for us all to find our own themes and create projects to focus on especially during a lockdown!
