Village at War – World War 2 Re-enactment
BCC Portrait Group
In May, members of the Group had a great day at the World War 2 re-enactment event, Village at War, held at Tilford, near Farnham.
Richard Bullock, Steve Buesden and I drove there together. Having attended a couple of years ago, Richard had suggested that this would be a suitable event to practise our portrait photography. He was not wrong!
1940’s Style
The place was full of energy and enthusiasm. Everyone was dressed and equipped in the 1940’s style. Above all, everyone is willing to chat about their activity and are expecting, even wanting to be photographed. It’s the perfect environment for a new portrait photographer or street photographer where there are willing victims! Some of them even know how to pose!

Famous Celebrities
There were plenty of celebrities present, including Captain Mainwaring and his platoon, General de Gaulle and most importantly, the great man himself, Churchill!
The Air Raid
The highlight for me was the air raid and the arrival of the fire engine at full tilt to put out the fire!
I hope you enjoy our photographs.
Everyone in the Club is welcome to join our Group. Just contact me if you’d like to join and be added to our email distribution list.
