Portrait group SIG – Pre-Raphaelite-Inspired Photo Shoot with Lily
Alan Edwards organised a captivating afternoon for the Portrait group SIG with a Pre-Raphaelite-inspired photo shoot featuring Lily, a talented and friendly model and actress from Bristol. The event took place at South Hill Park, utilising both its scenic grounds and the charming recital room.
The Setting and Preparation
South Hill Park provided the perfect backdrop for the shoot. The recital room, with its elegant wooden interiors and large windows, offered excellent natural lighting that complemented the theme. Although the day began outdoors, rain prompted the group to move indoors, allowing them to take advantage of the room’s beautiful ambiance.

Creative Collaboration
Lily brought a selection of stunning outfits, and the group decided on two standout choices: a flowing gown with dramatic sleeves and a green, Grecian-inspired dress. Props such as a pomegranate brought by Lucy and red roses from Sue added striking visual elements.

The photographers worked together seamlessly, supporting one another with reflectors and sharing ideas to create compelling compositions. Alan, who had experience shooting in the recital room, provided valuable tips, guiding the group to find the best angles and lighting setups.

The Experience
Lily’s professionalism and patience were remarkable, as she posed gracefully throughout the afternoon. Her background at the Jane Austen Centre, where she dons Regency attire, brought an authentic touch to the session. The collaborative spirit of the photographers and the inspiring setting made this a truly memorable experience.
